Dear CNS Colleagues,
We are reaching out to inform you that The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) & Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) may be contacting you. Currently, the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role is NOT classified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) under the DOL. NACNS has reached out to the DOL/OEWS to correct this misclassification.
We need your help to correct this mistake.
The DOL/OEWS will be randomly sampling NACNS members to complete a survey interview intended to help provide them a clearer understanding of our advanced patient practice as APRNs. We have created talking points for this critical interview (see attached). In order to correct the misclassification with the DOL/OEWS, it is critical our message to the DOL/OEWS be the following: " our advanced patient practice such as diagnosing, treatment, prescribing and billing are missing." Should you be selected, we need you to inform the DOL that their classification of the CNS role is incomplete and inaccurate related to our advanced patient practice. Please let us know if you should have any questions.
