Legislative and Regulatory Committee

Committee Purpose:

• To monitor and analyze 1). Proposed bills in Indiana and 2). Proposed amendments to current Indiana Code, for implications affecting the clinical nurse specialist (CNS) role; to report such information regularly to the IACNS Board of Directors (BOD). 

• As applicable, to monitor and analyze federal legislative activities and other health care issues for implications affecting the CNS role; to report such information regularly to the IACNS BOD. 

• To make recommendations to the BOD including initiating, facilitating, advocating, and supporting state legislation. 

• To respond to members and/or state legislators, other professional organizations, and boards of nursing on state and national issues which affect recognition, reimbursement, and practice of clinical nurse specialists.
